Volunteers are truly an integral part of a successful non-profit organization. CHN's volunteers contribute in all aspects of the organization:

Administrative office duties
Distributing supplies in the food bank
Home delivery of food and nutritional items
HIV testing
Canvassing at festivals
Community outreach
Helping with special events

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression, disability, or veteran status. College students and high school seniors needing educational community service learning hours for graduation credits are encouraged to contact us for opportunities. We do not have any court-ordered community service positions at this time.

Volunteer Process:

1. Submit your application online.
For special events and AIDS Walk Colorado, no further training is required. Ongoing and Education Volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation and HIV 101 prior to volunteering.

2. Attend Volunteer Orientation
This session covers topics including CHN & DCAP services, volunteer policies and procedures and customer service training. Volunteers will review and sign up for volunteer opportunities at this orientation. Volunteer Orientations are held every other month at the CAP office. Please contact Tracie Smith at 303.837.0166 ext. 470 for more information and for future training dates.

3. Attend HIV 101
HIV 101 covers information specific to HIV/AIDS including transmission, disease progression, prevention, education and testing information.

4. Arrange with the Volunteer Coordinator for on the job training and scheduled shifts.
Food Bank and Receptionist positions require a regular time commitment during normal business hours. Volunteers working in the office much attend volunteer orientation and complete HIV 101 training.

Event volunteers assist in a number of different ways to help DCAP's events run smoothly. Event volunteers do not have to attend volunteer orientation or HIV 101. DCAP Events are held throughout the year:

Red Tie Affair - March 21, 2015
