Each rider must raise a minimum of $250 (in addition to the registration fee). Donations will be used to further the education, prevention, and client service activities of the Southern Colorado AIDS Project (S-CAP) and all donations are tax deductible.
Win a new bicycle from Criterium Bicycles! Each rider will be given one entry in our bicycle drawing per $250 of pledges raised. The more money raised in pledges, the better the chance of winning!
Remember, although we understand it may be difficult for some of you to ask for money, realize that many people contribute to charities. There is money in abundance for those who ask!
Consider a letter writing campaign as a great start to your fundraising efforts. You can reach many people this way, and a letter gives the recipient time to consider what you are doing, how hard it is, and how much it means to you. This is a great "low pressure" approach. Need some ideas? Check out our sample fundraising letters.
For other ideas, visit this site or this site to create a strategy. Identify your personal goal and take some time to develop a written plan of action. How much do I want to achieve? Along with letters, what else could I do? Who should I focus on?
Start now. It's never too early. The earlier you collect your pledge money the easier it will be to focus on training.
Believe in yourself and the cause! Learn more about S-CAP, HIV and AIDS, and share your knowledge and concern with others.
Don't limit the people you ask. Make a list of everyone you know - co-workers, friends, family, social contacts, etc. And don't forget the people who have asked you for money! Please, do not forget that most companies have a corporate matching program!
Always follow up with thank-you. An appropriate method is with a personal note or postcard describing your success at the Ride - and how they contributed to that success.
