VolunteeringVolunteer Crew Opportunities
The success of the 7th Annual ESCAPE Ride depends on our great volunteer crew. As a crewmember, you are of service to the Riders and fellow crew. Whether you are setting up the camp, cooking meals, cheering riders at pit stops, cutting up fruit and mixing sports drinks or driving the route to watch for safety concerns and riders in need, each crew member is vital to success of the Ride. Please note, many of the volunteer crew areas may be expanded and new crews may be added. We make every effort to place you in an area of your choice, but we ask that you remain flexible as we place you where the need is greatest. Volunteers who want to fundraise are encouraged to do so and will receive full credit in the appropriate raffles.Crew Teams:Ceremonies/Decorations: This team helps put on the opening and closing ceremonies and the presentation Saturday evening. Food Service: Volunteers are responsible for setting up, preparing, serving and cleaning for all meals at campground. Will also assist in coordinating meals on the route for riders. Registration: Each of the riders must check in before the Ride. To make sure this goes smoothly, our Registration Team must be well organized and efficient to make sure that no one is missed! The Registration Team also collects the pledges from the Riders when they check in and distributes campground maps, event schedules and orientation materials. Rest Stops/Pit Stops: The cheer teams. Crucial to riders making the long routes, this team supplies the food and water, as well as a friendly face, first aid and the place to rest needed. This team must stop by the campground first to get supplies that need to get out to our pit stops. One team member must have access to a vehicle that can transport large items. Some heavy lifting may be necessary. Route Marshals: Although signage is important, occasionally an intersection, cross street or neighborhood will still need special attention to make sure the changes in routes and unsuspecting road hazards are clear to all riders and SAG vehicles. SAG: This team constantly patrols the route where the riders are, giving rides to those that cannot ride any further, warning riders of safety hazards, and monitoring riders for safe riding. Signage: It is hard to read a map and steer a bike, so signage along the route is very important to make sure the riders and route vehicles do not make a wrong turn. Going out early before the ride each day, signs are posted and the road is marked. Then, all signs are retrieved and markings cleaned after the riders have passed. If you are interested in volunteering, send us an e-mail and we will get back to you promptly! Not free that weekend?Want to help but can't ride or volunteer? Donate! We welcome any donations to help support HIV/AIDS services in Southern Colorado, and all donations are tax deductible. To donate, go to our printable donation form. Thank you!
